Escrow.com

Over the past 10 years in domain investing, fall has been really good to me. This year seems to be getting an early jump.  My one word dot coms are getting a lot of good offers.  I’m in escrow for a five figure sale, and I’ve added some great names over the last few months.   Especially nice is all the focus on bitcoin.  The more people slide over, the less attention to domains and it leaves more for me.  Quality domains still attract quality prices but taking away just one bidder helps get a better price at auction .  People love the movement of bitcoin prices but business operate on domain names, not on bitcoin.  Why don’t I do both?   At this point I don’t feel the need to do both.   I am just fine with domains, my stocks, my land, and my nursery.  I’m content and happy.  I am going to stay in my lane.   Here are today’s names. Click for most recent price

Quote of the Day:   “We don’t always control what happens to us. But we ALWAYS control how we interpret what happens to us. As well as how we respond”  -From the book The Subtle Art of Not Giving a Fuck (real book)

.

I just finished watching the Jimmy Iovine and Dr. Dre documentary.  One of the better docs I’ve seen.  We all know the story of someone coming from nothing and making it big.  The middle parts of the journey are the interesting part.   In my opinion there is nothing more entertaining than the story of a great journey.   In general people love a great ending but most expect hardships along the way.  This doesn’t disappoint.  I often wonder if great minds all have these inner demons that cause the drinking, addiction, or social problems.  Or is it the passion and the time that they put in to become the best in the world at their craft.  Can someone be amazing and have a fun ride with a great family life along the way?  Is it something that happens but the stories aren’t told because nobody wants to see an easy journey. Smooth rides to success don’t make great documentaries.  Do I need to suffer more to be successful?  I don’t think you do but then again I didn’t form the biggest record company in the world or sell my company for 3 billion……..yet.   I highly suggest you check it out. You may not know rap or Beats headphones, but I bet you still enjoy the story of both of those guys’ journey.   Enjoy your Sunday.  Here are today’s names. Click for most recent price

It was good to see Mike Carson on the DomainSherpa review, though I have to say I missed the trucker hat he normally wears.

I hope no one out there burned their eyes out staring at the eclipse.

Space the Infinite Frontier with Harry Caray from Lisa Needs Braces on Vimeo.

There was a lot of crypto talk again which I think is a good thing. I’m no block chain expert and until a few months ago I had no idea what they were even talking about. With just a little bit of understanding it’s easy to see the huge potential of the space. Not only for improved transactions and cool sounding money, but for the endless possibilities that the concept is capable of accomplishing.

If there’s one thing that will hold back or ruin cryptocurrency in the US, it’ll be the government and their f’d up regulations and bureaucracy.  It’s already a bit of an issue, when it comes to depositing money on some of the exchanges or participating in an ICO.  I think a lot of this might just be that companies don’t want to get screwed or have to change things when the US decides to change one rule or another.

Seriously, the government can take anything and mess it up once they get their grubby inefficient paws on it. There’s the obvious examples like the post office. I know it’s over simplistic to compare them to companies like UPS or FedEx, but it shouldn’t be.

How can we have a business that works hard, innovates and makes a profit, while a subsidized government entity does the same thing for a loss. Well I guess there’s my answer, the one works for it and has to make it the best to thrive, while the other rolls on doing whatever they want with the endless supply of money they’re given.   There’s no incentive to make anything better.

Here’s another great example of the insanity of government that I might have mentioned before,  can’t remember if I have:

When I was in Iraq as a contractor, I got to see this first hand. I worked for the DOD as a firefighter, we were assigned to base and force protection only. We weren’t out driving around the countryside putting out fires, we stayed on the base.

Haliburton had the majority of the logistics contracts, I  worked for another company that had been subcontracted by KBR (At that time KBR was the Logistics subsidiary of Haliburton). KBR was tasked with purchasing the majority of resources and equipment needed to run the bases. As a side note, KBR subcontracted some portions of the logistics, usually a specific HR type needs, to other companies. I can only assume this was to make it look like there were numerous companies involved and not a monopoly.

Here’s how the logistic contract worked. KBR’s contract with the Army was set up with “cost plus” purchasing, so every dollar they spent on supplies they made a percentage of money. I don’t know what the rates were, but an example of cost plus would be buying the famous $500 milspec hammer and making $5 just for buying it.

What the hell kind of system is this? They were incentivized to spend as much money as possible.

I arrived toward the beginning of everything, at least logistically, at the end of the summer in 2004. When our Fire equipment finally started to arrive, (we waited for months using old army crap in Balad) it looked like they had opened an equipment catalog, closed it and said, “I have know idea what that stuff is, just buy everything.

In January 2005 I went to FOB Ramadi in the Al Anbar province, (the place Tom was talking about when Ramadi.com was up for auction). Our mission was to transition base fire and rescue services from the Marine firefighters currently operating in that role.  The equipment started to trickle in a few weeks after we arrived. The first apparatus that we received for our 2 square mile base were brand new bright red targets,   tanker, a medium duty rescue, and a Jeep SUV command vehicle. Additional apparatus arrived later.

We also got full shipping containers full of rescue rope, no less than 3 floating pumps and various other exotic firefighting equipment. Floating pumps basically draft water from a static water source as a stand alone unit. I don’t know of any department where I work or have worked, that uses these or has one. I’m sure there are some that I don’t know about and I can see them being useful for rural departments with large bodies of water, but we were in the damn dessert. There was no chance of ever using one of these stupid things let alone 3.

The tallest building on the base was two stories high, so thousands and thousands of feet of rescue rope was pointless along with the millions of $ of other equipment that was sent to us.

But for every unusable, pointless, piece of equipment they shipped to us, KBR was making money. This is how the government works, they spend money just to spend it.

They’ll study the shit out of something and then study the study just to see if they can make a better study next time. They make confusion and useless paperwork the key to ensuring continued funding of some worthless project that helps no one.

Another example, also in Ramadi, was the 80+ tradesman contractors that were living there. These electricians, plumbers, carpenters and so on weren’t allowed to do any work on the base for the military, do to a contract issue. Apparently there was some glitch in the paperwork, so while the Army was paying for them to live and work on the base, they couldn’t do anything other than make improvements to their own facilities. Basically they existed on the base building themselves a little village to live in and no point to being there.

This isn’t a political rant or a call for anarchy, it’s simply a first hand view of how government works regardless of the party in power.

Somehow, maybe out of sheer dumb luck or the ravings of a mad man, I’ve drawn a parallel of what the Us government will do to the blockchain and cryptocurrency if they get more involved and try and regulate it or the users.

I hated everything about dot co.    It made zero sense to me.  Completely driven by marketing and way too close to dot com to be effectively used by businesses in my opinion.  For a brief second I lost my senses during the Chinese run and bought some but I have since gone through rehab.  Served time, paid my fines, and back to reality.  That being said I do see SOME opportunity for dot co to represent a company and the right words or domains can work.  But it is a very small number of names.   Today you get to start mining those names as hundreds of short do cos are up for auction.  And cheap.  Cheap enough that I have listed them all at the bottom in alphabetical order for you to peruse.

On a side not I put up 888733 and took a bath.  Lost $2700 on the buy becoming my second name ever that I lost money on . Weak.net being the other.  That doesn’t count drops (which I had thousands of dollars worth of in .ws) and upcoming loses in my .ws that I did hold.   Before you set up a GoFundMe page to help me and my family I will let you know I have been doing just fine. The list is probably going to hit an all time high this month in sales and I have sold a few names.  I should be able to pay my bills and have just enough food to continue my marathon training.   I appreciate the thoughts.  Here are today’s names. StageHypnosis.com   You may not know this is what its called but this is when someone hypnotizes people on stage.  It’s pretty fun to watch.  1998 domain

BarbecueAccessories.com   Two hard words to spell but still getting some good bids

HealthEvents.com   Nice name for someone that runs Health expos or something similar

JesusFuckingChrist.com   Words that would get me whipped as a kid but so many people say this on a daily basis

Tinca.com   I like these types of names.  Short and make great brands.  Sounds like a guy from Boston saying “tinker”

playbytherules.com    Doing better than I expected.  But that’s half the names that sell on Godaddy

SpokenFor.com     the next Ashley Madison

LOQU.com   If this goes cheap enough there may be a flip possibility on Namejet. CVCV do very well there

VCIY.com     Venture Capital

WebTeachers.com    Online education gets bigger every year and online teachers are going to be in need

HXIO.com   A LLLL.com or protection for HX.io

388.co   The NNN.co are still the most valuable of the dot co.  Which makes me feel better that at least I had the right type of dot co when I bought.   I just shouldn’t have bought at all.

Domains That I Like With One or No Bids

MakingDeals.com Reminds me of what a guy that shined my shoes in Chicago once said “Can’t do no deals if you got dirty heels”

VerbalThreat.com A known term which is a good thing. Also a rapper. No bids

QMiner.com Miner names are worth taking a look at in this environment

TryBison.com The only red meat I eat. I don’t eat it often but when I do..

MelaniaTrump.org The first lady. Surprised nobody has taken this one.

BUQE.com the CVCV are still hot. Have been for years. Just got a little hotter when the rest of the world started liking them as brands as well.

FEVU.com Another one that just went up for auction.

Unfaded.com I’m so good, nobody wants to fade me

HospitalRate.com You have a better chance of finding out the price of a batch of stolen Visa cards on the Dark Web than you do the hospital rates. Change that. No bids

GayLikeMe.com I actually like the name. Don’t read in to it to much. More of a children’s book.

Squeely.com I was thinking of not putting this one on the list but that never works. Good names usually get found

LaunchPit.com Sounds like a startup, pitch your wares kind of site. No bidders

IGoBig.com Or I go home

Cookies.ws I passed on all those .ws at Namejet but I actually may buy this. Cookies are second only to cats on the Internet

Escrow.com

I had my first results via DropCatch and overall I think it went well. I got crushed on 888733.com and sold it at a big loss. I knew it was coming so its not Dropcatch’s fault.  I bought way too high.   But Weed.cc went well and I made a little money on it.  $500 or roughly 40% for 2 years work.   Not the best but if I can do that 1000 times I’ll be happy.  Actually I would take 100 times.   I realize that profit is what pays the bills but since this name was paid for two years ago, the revenue goes straight back into the kitty (minus taxes) and I have all the money to put back into names. I do things a little differently than most.  I use the revenue I create from my domain names to buy the next names.  No sales, no income from the blog, no purchases.  Some times I have to wait weeks to buy a name.  Most domain investors are too addicted to wait weeks and put some of their bill paying and savings back into their domain purchases.  I don’t and so I have to wait.  I also like to keep a  buffer in my account and if it gets below that I don’t buy a name.

You know that old saying “when something great comes along you don’t have the money and when you have the money nothing great comes along”.   Well, I’m going to have the money when something great comes along.   At the time I bought trunk.com my buffer number was a bit lower than it is now.  I had been talking to the people for years but when they were ready to sell they came quickly. Fortunately,  I had it and I spent it.   It worked out well.  And I’ll be ready if it comes around again.  I don’t have to spend it.  I won’t spend it unless its something very special.  I dipped into it to buy Uncomfortable.com and Dustpan.com last month so I haven’t done much buying in August.  But I’m having a great month and my kitty should be flush if it keeps it up for the next 10 days.  Money management is the key to gambling and investing.  I was terrible at it for 45 years.  Now that I’ve gotten better at it I understand why its so important. Here are today’s names. Quote of the Day:   “You can do anything, but not everything”  —David Allen

Domains of the Day:   BUQE.com   Looks at the average price of CVCV and you’ll see these have move up faster than most categories

Cloudset.com  Cloud names still one of the top categories

RomanceClub.com    the Tinder of Romantics

CosmeticIndustry.com  Billions of dollars, 49 bidders

MastersScholarships.com   going to take a buildout but there are Masters students looking to help pay for college

NCEnergy.com  I’ve said it a lot but I like energy names.  I think alternative is going to play a big role in the future

ByAmericans.com   but for the World

GrabStyle.com I’d rather have this at $17 but one of those names you can sell at BIN.  No bids

I’ve never done it before but I think I’m going to do it.  I’ve always wanted to but I just couldn’t pull the trigger.  My wife always tells me I’m going to regret it after its over and I’ll be pissed that I did it.  My friends are egging me on to do it.  Probably because they want to live through me.  Let me take the hit.  Let me risk the chance that it sucks and I’ll be the one who made the bad decision.  My wife says if I do it then I have to be in the other room.  She doesn’t want any part of it.  But I know that I soon as I start she’ll be in there checking in on me to see how its going.  I know my friends will want to come over too.  Yeah. I think I’m going to do it.  I’m going to buy the MacGregor Mayweather fight.  Here are today’s names. Click for most recent price

Our thoughts and prayers are with go out to those in the path of the hurricane about to hit the gulf coast. If you live in that area hopefully you’re reading this from somewhere other than home. If you haven’t left yet or aren’t leaving, find something that floats and keep your head above water. Stay safe.

Main List

The No Bid List

AirTests.com  A site for air quality products

AllFound.com  Looking for something that’s lost?

AndThink.com  Stop and think before you act or say something stupid

BoyWild.com

BridalBroker.com  A site for selling brides wholesale? What’s the going rate?

BugDetective.com  A pest mitigation agency, they look for the clues find the evidence and execute the sentence

CleanPuff.com    A vape name.  I know there’s talk about vaping not being safe or  not enough data to make the claim that it’s safer than smoking. Obviously not using any type of nicotine product is better for you, but come on, smoking contains carcinogens, carbon monoxide, and all kinds of other crap that’s not found in “water vapor” so it’s hard to imagine that it’s just as bad.

ClearMeter.com  Lot’s of things are metered, this one is done clearly

DigitalEco.com

Domainitize.com  An other domain domain, use it for your own blog

ErrorClean.com  makes errors disappear, like they never happened.

FakeEducation.com  Order your diploma online for 3 easy payments of $9.99. No study required.

ForgeGear.com  A smith that builds cool new gear

GoSwat.com   A name for something that’s ready to strike and break shit

InstaHookup.com  makes me think of trailers and tow packages

LoweringStress.com Has the “ing” but you get the idea. Sometimes the ing is ok, it makes it seem like it’s in action. :)

PerfectJuice.com  A new drink made of 100% fruit juice mixed with other natural supplements, with a touch of caffeine added

SafeVessel.com  A ship that won’t sink

SorryNote.com  A service that writes and sends a sorry note to anyone you wronged. They make it look like you sent it.

SoShort.com  So short it’s over already

SourceOrigin.com  No middle man, the place where the stuff actually comes from

TeeBiz.com  Sell tee shirts

WhatWine.com  What wine goes with chicken nuggets?

YouShaped.com  A fitness or body building site

BirthdayDelivery.com  Have trouble remembering to buy birthday gifts? Let Birthday Delivery take care of it. They’ll remember to send your pre-selected gifts so you don’t have too.

VapingSupplies.com  An online vape store, or wholesale supplier. We talk about the popularity of brands over EMD domains all the time, but sometimes I wonder why. If I see this name I know what to expect, I don’t have to guess. I think this is particularly relevant to niche e-commerce sites.

One of my proudest achievements is not my business or my marathon times.  It’s the fact that as of yesterday I have been married 22 years.  While not the perfect husband by any means, I am doing much better than many predicted.   I think even my Mother would have bet the under on how many years someone could stay married to me.  It’s been a little easier than I predicted, but that is much more likely because the other half of my team rather than my actions.  I do know this, that I am better at every single thing I do because I am married.  I can’t over emphasize the confidence that one has knowing that at all points in time , there is a person by your side that wants to help you succeed.  A person that will help or support with no questions asked.  You really can accomplish anything with that.   It is possible to have a great life on your own but I know that I enjoy it a lot more when there is someone sitting beside me laughing at my jokes, calling out my stupid antics, cheering on my successes, and dusting me off after my crashes.   I don’t take any single day for granted and look forward to as many days ahead as I can get.  And its going to be a hell of a journey.  I appreciate all of you that read what I write here on a daily basis but I would be wrong to not mention the other half of my team that you don’t get to meet or see.  Hopefully I’ll get her to a domain conference and change that.  Enjoy the day   Here are today’s names. Click for most recent price

Quote of the Day:   “My wife said to me: ‘If you won the lottery, would you still love me?’ I said: ‘Of course I would. I’d miss you, but I’d still love you”  –Frank Carson

The IRS is going to do everything they can to get your bitcoin profits.  Yep, that means day trading   They are going to get people for wash trading and everything.  They say currently they can track and assign 50% of all transactions which to me sounds a little less than anonymous.  Again, I am not anti Bitcoin.  I just feel that if I step in now I am stepping in right when it becomes regulated and watched.  The best money is made when nobody is watching unless you are being paid by the people watching.  Here are today’s names. Click for most recent price

In order to prepare for the future and to enhance learning and to practice said learning, DSAD will start listing prices of domains in Satoshi. For example the starting price of most of the expired inventory  is $12 (sometimes $10) which is roughly 274K satoshi. The trick will be keeping track of the daily exchange rate, or average exchange rate depending on the exchange.

For everyone asking themselves “what the hell is he talking about”, a satoshi  = 0.00000001 BTC , so at the current rate of 1 BTC equaling $4325, $1 equals about 30K satoshi. This makes it easier than saying 0.0000003 BTC or something like that.

It does get confusing so try and keep up, but it’s important to prepare for the future.

I have never been averse to risk.  Some people lose sleep, get sick to their stomach, and can’t concentrate when they have a risky proposition about to have an outcome.  It’s never really bothered me.  Maybe I compartmentalize, maybe I’m stupid and don’t realize the real consequences, maybe I just know that I got everything I have through risk and hard work so if I lose part of it, I can get it back. Early on,  I wanted more than I had and it led to straight up gambling.  I had no patience and honestly needed action to feel alive.  I had to have instant return.   This existed for decades.  It wasn’t until I had real income, real wealth that I moved from gambling to heavy risk.  I’ll never be low risk, that’s just not me.  But I have moved the percentage of my high risk to a much lower amount.  The amount of money I want to make now isn’t best achieved through gambling.  Gambling was necessary (at least in my mind back then) to get the capital to build the businesses I wanted.  Businesses that would then provide the stable income and rid the need of high risk.  Now I have them and I protect my money a bit more than I did.  I have responsibilities that are above myself and now include family and employees.  I mess up the money and more are effected than just me.  I would be gambling with someone else’s future now.

I now have zero interest in casinos and even struggle to bet sports.  The amount of money it takes to move the needle is too high and that same amount pisses me off because I think of all the things I could buy had I not lost it.   I would have put money in bitcoin back at $500 but I’m not putting it in at $4700.   If it goes to $20K great, but I actually have lots of things that I can put $4700 in that yield $20K.   We get $4 for petunias we grow from seed.  And we do tens of of thousands of them.  I’ve developed a nursery that gives me much better return than almost anything I can get in crypto currency.   “You should diversify, throw a little in” I understand the thought but if I have a sheet of paper of things I can do that will yield great profit.  I just don’t feel the draw to crypto.  I don’t feel any excitement when I see it.  Of course I still check it every day.  I love making money.  I just feel no personal desire to be a part.  I love domains.  I can’t wait every day to see what I can buy. I look forward to waking up and seeing offers for my domains.   I’m going to build on that and let you all do what draws you.  Mine is still domains and flowers. Here are today’s names. Click for most recent price and hopefully you’ll find some you like.

The horrible events of Houston and its impact on domain investors such as Eric Lyon show that we all can be effected by life’s hardships regardless of wealth and income level.  Everyone assumes that as investors we must all be wealthy and that we make hundreds of thousands of dollars if not millions.  The reality is that most domain investors live modest lives.  For every person with a Ferrari and one thousand investors that still have car payments. Most of us supplement our income with domain investing. For many taking away our home and possessions is a direct path to financial hardship.  The goal is to create enough wealth that possessions are merely that, but for 99% percent of us, our home is our biggest possession.  Taken away, not only would we suffer financially but you lose the center of your life.  The place where you feel most comfortable.  A place that is you.   Eric Lyon and his family have lost this.  It’s nice to see the community rally behind him and let him know that we have his back.  A few dollars from each can put him in a better place.  Not back in his original place, but hopefully somewhere better than he was yesterday.  I hope you can do your part to help a little as well. (how to help in link above)   Here are today’s names. Click for most recent price and hopefully you’ll find some you like.

If I were going to start over in business tomorrow I would be in solar.  Installing, selling, inventing.   I envision everyone’s roof covered in solar tiles.  All cars plugged into a grid at work because their roofs are solar panels  Even sections of roads strong enough to be solar panel but take traffic.  I’m a little old to dive in deep but I haven’t felt this strongly about the future of something since I was convinced that the iPhone was the future of phones.  I’m one for one.  I have a few things I am thinking about creating that are solar related and go with my nursery.  Trying to put together a solar box that is strong enough and stores enough power to run a pond or a fountain.   Solar has improved so much since I made my box two years ago.  The battery isn’t much smaller but the panels are 1/5  of the price and more powerful.  Not only will it allow people to put things where there is no power but it will pay for itself eventually because inefficient pumps cost a lot of money to run.  We’ll see how it goes.  Back to domains. Here are today’s names. Click for most recent price and hopefully you’ll find some you like.

I didn’t go as in depth today as I usually do so plenty of searching for you to do if you get bored. If you process the drop lists in a way that’s similar to what I do, you’ll find that you need to prioritize your search time. For example I don’t go through a list  on days that I miss, I just move on to the next day. I used to try and catch up by trying to find names that are left over, but I’ve found that there’s only so much time you can spend doing this, not to mention your sanity can only handle so many pages of words in a day.

This is one of the reasons I think that everyday practice will help you find better names.  You need to train you mind and eyes to scan list as quickly as possible while being able to identify good names.

I also want to review some simple things that we’ve talked about in the past. I get emails every week from people looking for domain help or advice. I’m glad to respond and help anyone that asks, but here are some simple things you should do tomorrow if you haven’t done so yet.  Theses will be my answers to you should you email me.

List all your names with BIN prices Afternic, Sedo, Godaddy Premium if applicable.

If you want to sell more names set reasonable prices.

Have a landing page that clearly states that the name is for sale, you can still have parking ads if you want. I don’t list a BIN price on most landing pages. I’ve talked about why in the past, but you’ll probably sell more names if you do.

Camel case your domains: Do this anywhere that lets you and certainly in your own spreadsheets. (ThisIsCamelCase)  You can do this on Afternic and Uniregistry market, but not Godaddy or SEDO. The fact that you can’t do this on Godaddy and SEDO is actually pretty ridiculous, how the hell can a buyer see what you see in a name if the damn thing’s all caps ? Here’s a link from expireddomains.net that will camel case your domains for you in 2 seconds.    No one wants to get a list of domains to look at that are not camel cased. Also don’t put anything stupid in front of the domains like www or http.

These are the first things you need to do as far as I’m concerned. If you were to ask me, this is what I’d tell you.

Main List

Bitcoin2Cash.org

The No Bid List

AcademyMe.com  personal learning or classes. It could be a tutoring site with classes made to suit the individuals learning needs

It’s amazing to see our industry (and our nation) pull together to help those in need from the damage from Hurricane Harvey.  If you read through the Eric Lyon Go Fund Me page you will see a list of all the donors.  It reads like a who’s who in our industry. All the companies and people you respect seem to be on the list.   These are the times I’m proud to be part of the domain investing community and while I don’t wish any harm on anyone, it’s nice to know that when needed, our industry can do great things.    Here are today’s names. Happy Labor Day to those in the US.  We close our business today because I think its supposed to be a day when people don’t work. I don’t mind being open religious holidays because not everyone shares the same religion.  On those days I let employees choose if they want it off or not.   I’m not running, not working, and sleeping in for the first time in 6 months.  Although I guess I won’t be able to sleep in very long.   Unfortunately I will be writing speeches all day.  I have some big talks to give this week and the next couple weeks.  I have to get the speech done by Tuesday for one reason.  Handouts.  My handouts are 10 pages and there are 380 people coming to the talk.  They will print them for free if I turn them in Tuesday and I have to take care of it if I don’t.  I don’t want to carry nor pay for 3800 pages.  So I will hunker down and write a good talk.   I don’t have to sell anything because if I do a good enough job they will come see the nursery.  A good speech doesn’t have to sell.  If you inform and entertain they will want to know more about what you do.  And the sales will follow.   Here are today’s names. Click for most recent price

Escrow.com

A few days ago I bought a domain at auction that used to be a pretty big local site here in our town.  It was an arts and entertainment site for all things local.  Our newspaper has been getting crushed financially (like most papers).  It doesn’t help they had no plan to counter the effects of the internet.  The local talk radio and the paper were left in a will to be run as a non profit.  And boy have they done a great job.  They don’t even try and make a profit. Always pinching pennies.  No clue how to price or compete.   They gouged the people that used their Help Wanted ads.  They knew that local university and many companies by law were required to post job listings.  When the law opened it up to online then everyone moved and stop using the paper.  It was $20 instead of $300.   They had trouble realizing the ONLY reason people read the local paper is to watch our kids sports, to see who died, see who got arrested,  and interesting stories on local businesses and people.  The rest we got online 12 hours ago.   They made no attempt to buy the local sites that had gained traction.  They could have bought them and hired the staff on the cheap.   They’ve tried but recently they have decided to empty their nice radio station and condense the entire company into one floor of a 5 story building.  Their staff is so small it makes sense.   I got their old domain and the traffic is solid. Its a good name by itself but the traffic is great to send to my nursery website.  A few couple thousand of local visitors for free each month.   And free local web traffic is a good thing.  Here are today’s names. Click for most recent price

Quote of the Day: “Don’t cling to a mistake just because you spent a lot of time making it” -Unknown

Domains of the Day:   Conjuring.com   Met reserve.  Conjure up some profits

Namejet , DropCatch, and Sedo Names at Auction

Vicariously.com      A word people use quite a bit and the way I like to live.  Would like to see the reserve a bit lower

StudFinder.com  I can’t use one because it goes off all the time when I use it

VQH.com  These lower quality LLL.com have certainly dropped in value but not in use.  Some good value IMO on many.

BEF.com    All comes down to the reserve.  Very good letters

MAAB.com Already met reserve at $333

GetSomewhere.com  I thought it was a good name when it first came up for auction.  Nice to see others agree

ThePunisher.com  Comic fans will like this one

NaturallyDifferent.com  Met reserve at $70.  Marketing name for someone down the road

ThePet.net   The rhyming gives it all the value

Biopas.com   Has a bio engineering feel to it

FTPN.com  I assume it will have a lot more bidders after it moves to public auction.  Only 19 now

TechnologyPortal.com     The name makes it sound old and cool.  Does have some age.

GetReach.com  What every marketer is looking to get

Tarlon.com   A name but really not many people called it.  Still a cool sounding word

Godaddy Domains That I Like With Multiple Bids

BodyMedia.com   1999 domain with 13,000 backlinks has this one flying

RRTI.com   1995 on this one.   Age and I for international puts this close to four figures for me.  My opinion only, don’t buy on my opinion or people will yell at me.

KuddleKids.com   It’s cute because its spelled with a K and Kids is also.  16 bids

Midam.org    It’s the trade show I used to go to when I was a kid.  It folded and a new one was formed under a new name

Scorpa.com   Sounds tough, like scorpion

SecondOpinions.org   Rather have the .com but it sounds more helpful on the dot org

Butia.com  Nice 5L getting some bids.   Is also a type of palm

IndustryLeaders.com     Every industry has them.  We just don’t always know who they are

NewsFeeder.com   Definitely a need for a new news feed, blog feed.  Just no money in it

MPXB.com    A CHiP that is about to hit four figures.

8863.cc    How much you think this one is worth?  I bet you will still be surprised by the current and closing price

Flypex.com   Sounds techy.  Other bidders agree

NYLocksmith.com and NYLocksmiths.com  When you need them, you really need them

Domains That I Like With One or No Bids

Bitcoinmarket.us    Imagine how much BitcoinMarket.com would be worth.  This is a percentage of that.  No bids

BitcoinCourier.com Can’t think of a better time to buy and sell bitcoin names than now. No bidders

SoBroke.com Someone could have some fun with this one. No bidders

OuterMan.com We spend money on the outer man. We work on the inner man

FantasySquare.com Live out your fantasy or pretend you are an owner and get points for grown men playing sports

22West.com A lot of places called 22 west

FuckAllYou.com What many want to say as they walk out the door.

Cropple.com Not a real word but sounds like it. Those make great brands. No bidders

PornoDogs.com One dog I’m taking a bite out of. Don’t like

Brightn.com Still a viable naming convention for startups

Grypo.com Might be worth looking at for $12

YouAreProtected.com Strong marketing name. But you better protect them if you’re going to say it

BitNotion.com Getting a bid for Bit. Bit and short are worth a few bucks now

SnakeStick.com I don’t even know what a snake stick is but it sounds cool

What can I say that hasn’t already been said.  A big thank you to Michael Cyger for everything he’s brought to the industry.  He gave me a chance to be part of a great show.  A show that wasn’t for everyone but it was for a lot. I know because of all the emails I’ve received over the years.  Maybe it was better with Rick and Mike.  It doesn’t matter.  Its over.  Its time for all those naysayers that criticized to step up and to do something better.  But I imagine it will be the same old case where there are doers and there are talkers.  Mike was a doer and he let us do the talking.  Glad to see he practiced what he preached, had some amazing sales, and now can do things on his own time.  Congratulations Mike, you did great things.   Here are today’s names. Have a name at auction and need more exposure? Send me an emailI Charge $10 per name per day. We may be able to help. If you have an auction you want to promote, email us for details.*All names chosen by me, Shane or Josh . (ie you click through and purchase a name you like) or an occasional paid listing. Everything I say is based on my own research or is opinion. Do your own due diligence. That means look it up yourself if you don’t think the stats or my opinion is correct. I hand choose my names but I am paid to make this list by the auction houses, individuals that are auctioning names, and Godaddy affiliate links. As domains get more valuable it was inevitable that less and less quality names would be dropping.  That lack of inventory is driving up prices on the best quality names that do actually make it through.  Because everyone is competing within a smaller pool.   And even when the good names come to auction, somebody contact the owner direct so the name gets renewed and the owner gets to sell and keep the money instead of Godaddy.   It happened on Pogostick.com this week.  I was at $3K but got renewed. Of course after the auction was canceled  I emailed owner and tried to buy like everyone else.  Of course there are bargains to be had but its more like panning for gold at the gold mine museum than when it was actually a gold mine.

On another note, Sedo sold Kaffe.de this week for $20oK EUR.  A great sale but what makes it even better is the sellers actually bought it not that long ago for $100K EUR at SEDO.  Then turns around and sells it back on Sedo.   A great flip Here are today’s names. Click for most recent price

Quote of the Day: “Don’t let yesterday take up too much of your today
