IKE’S LIST OF DOMAINS AT AUCTION FOR Saturday, October 14th

Escrow.com

I heard this comedian on the way to work with my Sirrius/XM free trial and thought it was hilarious.

I’m not sure if I’ll actually pay for satellite radio when the trials over.  Maybe I’ll wait for them to start begging me to pay them and get a really good deal.   Before I had my current vehicle I usually listened to podcasts or streamed iheart radio.

I had a Sirrius subscription when it first came out, that was before  vehicles stereos were integrated with satellite radio.  I stopped the subscription when the portable player finally died. Back then I was using the old cassette adapter to play it through the car stereo. Lol, the old cassette adapter was genius, you can still find them at truck stops and other random places. Then i’d have to slap the magnetic antenna to the roof of the car. It was a mess of wires. Anyway, have a great weekend, relax and find some awesome domains.

Breaking News:  Shane took the day off because he is being hounded by the media. Only hours ago the world learned that our very own Shane Cultra is in fact Satoshi Nakamoto the creator of Bitcoin.  Now we can finally put a face to this mysterious genius.

Actually I think that the VR massage that Shane experienced yesterday was a little rougher than expected. I did the list today to give him a chance to recover.

Finally, since we’re supposed to talk about domains on this blog, has anyone backordered anything on Snapnames lately? They told be they suspended by account over a year ago.

There was an issue with old backorders that should have been removed. After they suspended me I couldn’t log in, but they still backordered more names for me from old backorders. I can’t even log in to remove anything, and I’ve emailed them several times telling them  this and reminding them that they were the ones that suspended me in the first place.

It doesn’t matter to me, they don’t really have any exclusive inventory anymore and I don’t use them to drop catch and pending delete names.  It just seems a little disorganized.

Escrow.com

Early Thursday morning I drove to Maryland to meet up with a few friends to fish for the day in the  Potomac around DC. I posted the pic a few weeks ago of the 70 plus pound catfish that I caught the last time we fished in that area.  No such luck this time, we caught a few small blue cats, the biggest weighing maybe 9 pounds.

We left the lower section, south of the Woodrow Wilson bridge, and headed to an area called “three sisters”. This section of the river is almost directly across from Georgetown University and right in the middle of DC. I guess it’s not the middle but as close to the middle as you can get on the river, I digress. Being that it’s in such close proximity to Georgetown, there were numerous Crew teams going up and down the river.

For anyone that’s never seen a Crew team in action,  the team of rowers are rowing in reverse with a navigator sitting in the back directing the action. There were also what I assume were coaches following along shouting instructions and feedback to the teams.  I’ve never been on a crew team so I have no idea if I’m using the right terms.

About an hour or so before sunset we set up in the three sisters section to try and finally catch a blue cat worth talking about. It was a beautiful scene: the sun was in the beginning stages of setting, a plethora of vibrant colors were reflecting off the water and the old buildings of Georgetown. There were all kinds of boats floating up and down the river, we even passed by a large boat that had about 30 people on the top deck doing yoga. I assume that’s what they were doing, either that or worshiping the setting sun. There were helicopters flying up and down the river and airliners making their final approach to National airport. The weather was great and the temperature was comfortable.  It was basically the kind of setting where you didn’t care if you caught any fish, it was worth it just being in the middle of it all.

We were fishing in  a 25 foot, center console with a canopy, fiberglass  fishing boat, not a tiny boat by any means but certainly not a giant vessel like the Yoga/Sunworshipper’s ride. As we were anchored trying to catch a monster cat fish, a few Crew boats came by without incident, that is until the last boat reached us.

I’m standing on the back of the boat looking up stream at a crew boat manned by about 10 or so girls, that seems to be in a direct path with our anchored location. The coach on the chase boat was following along and started saying things like “watch the fishing boat” and “hey there’s a boat in front of you” then it turned into “WHAT ARE YOU DOING!!? LOOK OUT FOR THE FISHING BOAT!”

Imagine the scene from Ben Hur, where the drum beats increase in tempo as the Captain calls for “ramming speed”.  The Crew boat went full speed into the back of our boat, stopping abruptly after impact and pushing us off anchor. Luckily no one was hurt that bad, one girl ended up with a bloody face, but I think she was ok, the oar whacked her in the face after impact. The navigator must not have been paying attention, maybe fell asleep or was texting, I’m not sure. To her credit she did scream”F!! I hit a boat” at the last minute.

So after we made sure they were all ok, and that we weren’t going to sink, we untangled our fishing lines that were now wrapped around the crew boat, said our good byes and kept fishing. We didn’t catch anything else.

Short list today, with not too many comments. My daughters cat went to the cat Emergency room tonight. While I don’t usually admit publicly to liking cats, this one’s my favorite, it’s the one that licks my face. I posted a video of her a few months ago.

We’re not sure what the issue is or if she’ll even make it, just randomly got really sick. I even left work 12 hours early to pick my daughter up from her aunts, since her mom was with  “Princess Leia” at the  Cat ER.  I actually have too much leave built up and need to use some before the end of the year anyway.

All of the cats have cat health insurance, I don’t pay for it so I’m not sure if it’s some sort of cat group coverage or more of a cat insurance collective.  I do know that this insurance company will probably be out of business by next year with all the claims filed on behalf of the cats the live in my house.

In any case, I’m worn out. Not even gonna type anything about any of the below domains. Maybe it’ll make it easier to see them.

IKE’S LIST OF DOMAINS AT AUCTION FOR Saturday, October 28th and .us experiment results

Escrow.com

Here’s a rundown of my .us experiment that I started about a year ago.

For those of you that don’t remember, Uniregistry had a special on .us for 10 cents each. I initially bought 10K names for $1K, I added around 2000 more towards the end of the sale for a rough total of 12K names for $1200.

I’ve talked in the past about why I like them at the right price but a quick review: The county I live in uses .us for it’s government website and I’ve sold several in the past.

Here’s the total sales broken down by price. While most of the names are now expired, they can still sell while they’re in auto renew grace, which gives me a free month to sell them.

11 $199.00 $2,189.00
4 $250.00 $1,000.00
45 $399.00 $17,955.00
1 $999.00 $999.00
Total $22,143.00

I also made about about $1000 in parking until the 6 month mark, when I stopped tracking any parking as I changed all the landing pages to a sales only format to test if more sales would be generated. They data is inconclusive, and since a higher percentage of the sales came through the afternic network I’m not sure if this had any affect on sales.

I’m sure I’m missing a few sales, I manually went through Afternic and Uniregistry and pulled the prices out. I know that I sold a few through whois inquiries, those sales aren’t added into these numbers.

Some history on the pricing. I started with a make offer/Buy it now format, at $250 minimum offer and $999 BIN.  You can see that 1 sold for the $999 BIN price and 4 sold for the minimum  offer amount. I then switched all the listings to $399 on both on Afternic, Sedo and on the landing page. When parking ads were being displayed I modified the landing page header to say “This domain is for sale for $399” instead of the default “This domain may be for sale”. I’m not a big fan of the ambiguous label, of course it’s for sale I have it parked and it’s a friggen .us. I want to sell them as fast as possible because I’m not paying the renewal fees.  As a side note I was going to renew the names that get traffic and are making money, instead I’ll just renew the ones that made money based on the records kept by Uniregistry.

With somewhere between 3 or 4 months remaining on the registration I changed the landing page price to $199 but left Afternic at $399. As far a sedo goes I think I only sold 2 domains and I’m not sure if I even listed them all, I should have, but my sales on SEDO have always been so much lower than any other platform. As a result I don’t give Sedo as much attention, but then that could be why I sell so few.  One thing I do know, searching for names listed on the sedo can be difficult. The domains are not camel cased so the words just flow together. Afternic actually lists the domains in the way that they’re entered. This only applies to the actual Afternic site and not the partner registrars.  The partners display the names in the registration path and it’s usually not camel cased . Godaddy, despite all the bitching I do, has not changed premium listings or auction listings to a camel case format. I think 4 times as many names would sell if people could quickly and easily tell what they were looking at.

Some points to take away without diving deep into the particulars. I made a significant sales relative to the purchase price with a profit of around $22K. The commission varied, 20% at Afternic, 15% on Sedo and 10% using the uniregistry BIN checkout system. Let’s just say 15% and make the total profit $18,900. Using these numbers we see that my experiment only worked with a significant discount.

Many registrars run continuous .us sales for about $1. At this price I still would have made a decent profit but the risk to reward and time involved might have made it prohibitive or at least less attractive, and certainly paying the full registration price would have ended in a loss.

Keep in mind that no names were priced according to any metric or perceived value, but rather in bulk.  The names were largely registered in bulk with certain metrics and other indicators used to quickly determine some sort of value in the names. The point here is that careful pricing and domain selection would allow for more profitability, but would have significantly added to the overall amount of work. The actual time invested was minimal as most tasks only entailed short bulk change orders.

Also Princess Leia seems to be doing better, they’re not sure what the issue is or was. She was tested for numerous cat related illnesses. I’m not sure if she’s out of the woods yet but at least she’s not hanging on by a whisker.  And seriously, if you’re the type of person that would spend an exorbitant amount of money on your pet’s health, you should look into Pet insurance.

I’ll find out the name of the insurance company and post it next time, I don’t pay the premium so I don’t know, but the bill so far is over $10k but the insurance company pays 100% after a $500 deductible.

Probably doesn’t matter what the company name is, they’ll be out of business by the end of the month.

You ever wonder how a person can end up with a long list of wrongdoing, things that span long periods of time with multiple crimes or unethical actions?  It could be anything, sexual harassment, political corruption, embezzlement, maybe even promising to build websites and not delivering while keeping the money.

These things start with one action that goes unchallenged, one event that occurs with no accountability. Then it happens again, still no accountability, then they start to justify their actions or develop a sense of invincibility.  Overtime it’s second nature, part of who they are, all because the thing they did wasn’t challenged or caught early on.

We do things like this to some degree, they don’t have to be blatant illegal action or overtly unethical. Maybe it’s something like gambling more than we should because we won the first few times.

There are stories about this kind of thing all the time, especially with stealing money. We hear about someone that ended up stealing millions of dollars from a non profit or their employer. I bet the first time it happened it was a mistake or they needed a few extra bucks and intended to pay it back. When no one challenged them or found out, they took a little more till it got to the point of no return.

I bring this up because I got pulled over on the way to work last night for speeding and actually got a ticket. I got cocky, because I shit you not, I have been pulled over 60 or 70 times without getting a ticket. I drive over 100 miles to work, so I’m on the road a lot, so maybe I’m in uniform or I have something else that identifies what I do for a living. There’s a camaraderie with all first responders that translates into lots of warnings.

In theory I don’t think that I should get out of a speeding ticket, but in reality I’ll take any advantage I can get, but getting a ticket grounds me back in reality. It reminds me that it’s not ok to speed excessively.

Well at least it reminds me that I should be  more aware of my surroundings, pay more attention, look for the hiding spots, scan for other drivers signaling “cop ahead” and employ the front door method. The ticket keeps me from getting cocky and lets me know I need to play the game if I want to speed. :)  I mean I get paid to drive fast, so what’s wrong with practicing on the way to work?

See, the rationalizing is supposed to be ironic.

The other day in the comments section someone asked for help with Uniregistry landing page setup. Specifically they wanted to know how to bulk edit and change the banner message, by default it’s something like ” This premium  domain may be for sale”.

Go to the market section of your account. Then select the domains that you want to change. This can be done by portfolio or search, if you need to select a large portfolio or all your market domains, use the EDIT drop down box and select all.  Otherwise you’ll only be able to select the max amount of domains on that page.

You can see here that all 12K+ domains are selected

Also under EDIT, select edit market settings

Here you can change the BIN price of all the domains

Select the  landing page type, Sales page or PPC parking

Toggle the “Sales Banner” button.

Click the star to the right of the sales banner for advanced options.

Enter whatever you want the sales banner to say, then save.

Escrow.com

Last night I commented on Raymond’s latest post on TheDomains.com. Apparently Rick Schwartz tweeted about being upset with Godaddy for allowing people to bid on expired domains that they own, at least I think that’s what he’s saying.

There may be a few misconceptions here based on Ricks tweets and the comments after the article.  I could be wrong but I feel like I have a pretty good grasp on the Godaddy domain life cycle.

First off, you can’t bid on your own auctions. The auction says “you are the owner”.  You could, in theory, bid on a name that you own, but that is part of Godaddy’s expired inventory. I have no idea why you would do this as Godaddy will get the proceeds. I also have no way of knowing who is bidding on the names at Godaddy, but I feel like they have been pretty good at regulating the auctions. I think that paying a yearly fee lowers the amount of false bidders, and as most of the auctions are their own expired inventory, I am not concerned about shill bidding. If they were bidding up their own auctions there would be hell to pay, and there are too many people working there to keep that a secret.

Next, What would the motive be for bidding on your own expired domain? The only thing I can think of that makes any kind of sense is to artificially inflate the price. With this theory the owner would renew and pay the Godaddy reinstatement fee or transfer the domain to another registrar, while hoping the final sales price gets recorded at NameBio, giving the seller a free appraisal and comp.

As I said above, the owner can simply move the domain for $8, so bidding on the name instead of paying the transfer fee seems crazy. Best case scenario you let the name go to closeouts and pay the $5 +reg fee, but you’re still paying more than the transfer.

Raymond posted a quote from Paul Nicks from a previous interview. He talks about the 45 day auto renew grace period during which the auction starts at day 25, with the name being transferred into the winning bidders account on day 42 maybe 45, it’s not clear. No where does he mention the additional Redemption period that starts after the name has been deleted.

This is the time period that was originally intended as the fail safe for people to recover their expired domains, but it has been superseded by the auction process. Godaddy charges the reinstatement fee of $80 once the auction has started and this money goes to Godaddy. If you have a name that has entered  redemption the max fee to recover the domain should also be $80, according to Verisign, and that money goes to Verisign. In theory you could manually delete all of your expired domains, pushing them into redemption and causing Godaddy to be unable to auction them.

But again why would you do any of this when you can transfer the domain to another registrar? As Raymond’s article says, Rick S. is unhappy with Godaddy and transferring his domains away, but I am still unclear what it is he’s upset about. I thought it was common knowledge that you could bid on any expired inventory, including names that you own that are expired, but why the hell would you do that in the first place?

The newest Domain Sherpa  is now live and it has a new panel.  But a panel you might be familiar with, just in different chairs.   Michael Cyger joins the show today and from the results, I think he’ll be a regular.

If you’re coming from the show and this is one of your first times here let me explain what we do here.  Josh and I put out a list each day of names that we like and feel offer an opportunity to sell later for more money.  Obviously that feeling can change if the price goes too high.  This is not a recommendation to buy.  This is an OPINION.  We are paid to make this list.  But I have been doing this list since 2009 and have a pretty good sense of what sells at auction.

We also charge $10 to place a name on this list with a maximum of 5 listings a day.  It is also how it keeps the blog going. Without our list we close her down.  We also follow every daily listing with a results post that show the auction results of all the names we chose so you can see what they sold for and learn the current wholesale prices of various types of domains.  Aaron also writes a post each week of where are they now.  A look at the top sales and what the sites are being used for.

We don’t provide any news about domain investing here other than special occasion.   If you need news there are three great sites that will pretty much cover your needs.   DomainNameWire.com, TheDomains.com, and DNJournal.  Domaining.com should always be where you start your day.  I just hope you make DSAD a part of it as well.  Here are today’s names.    Click on them for current price

Quote of the Day:  “Do not worry about avoiding temptation. As you grow older it will avoid you”  -Joey Adams

It was good to have Cyger back on the DomainSherpa in the latest episode. I thought it was fun to see him on the other side of the interview microphone answering questions in the format  he created.

Ategy came back on the scene in the comments section after being called out by Shane for his notable absence. He did not disappoint with his level of comments. :)

I made one comment, though significantly shorter than Ategy, to someone that posted a couple of names that they had hand registered. Probably not the right place to post them, as it had nothing to do with the show, but it made me think that maybe we could do that here from time to time.

So if you think you’ve hand registered some gems and want audience feedback, post 1 or 2 at a time in the comments section. Write why you think someone might buy the name, ie, good brand, marketing name, anything.

I don’t hand register names that often, and I’ve shared the majority of the ones that I have. I often make the distinction between hand registering and hand catching: I consider hand regs as names I’ve made up or spun and hand catching as names I paid registration fee but that were found on an deleted or pending delete list.

95% of the times I own and sell are names that I  paid only registration fee but were dropped by someone else.

Regarding our Crypto hand registered experiment, we’re 10% of the way to breaking even. I sold CryptoAdaptor.com for $399 this week on Godaddy premium. Maybe it will make a profit, maybe not, still 11 months to go.

One piece of advice I would give a new domain investor is make sure to see what sells but don’t think that the sale has anything to do with your name.  Just because something else sells for $5,000 doesn’t mean that your name is worth that as well.  It can give you a sense of what it COULD be worth.  I cringe every time someone uses a comp to try and prove to me the value of a name.  I’ve been doing it long enough that I know what a domain will sell for at auction.  What it will sell for retail has just as much to do with who is buying and their budget as the quality of the name.  Deciphering why it sold for that much is the real trick.

On a personal note.  We have a step challenge going with four domain industry people this week.  My guess is it will take 110,000 steps to win it this week.  Our newest entrant is Doron Vermaat of Efty who joins, myself, Michael Cyger, and Christa Taylor this week.  Christa and Michael battled it out last challenge with Mike winning in the last few hours.  I know its cliche to say it but when you are moving you all are winners.  In all honesty they don’t have a chance with the nursery starting to get busy but the challenges do get you taking the stairs when you might normally take an escalator.  Or getting out and running when you really wanted to sleep in.   You head back to bed and you hear Christa’s voice saying “Get owt dair and run you hoser” and you get out of bed and hit the pavement. Whatever gets you going and this friendly challenge is one way to help.   Here are today’s names.    Click on them for current price

Talking to a few domain investors that I hadn’t talked to in a while.  Both had some things happen in their lives that weren’t exactly as planned.  Both of which caused them to step back from domain investing in a public way.  i.e. no more commenting on blogs or Namepros.  It’s a story that has been pretty common lately in the domain space.   Many think crypto has taken away some investors but I have different ideas.

I think many domain investors just don’t participate publicly anymore.  They were tired of reading blogs that complain constantly of things they don’t like in the industry.  Forums that attacked individuals.  Some being legit and correct and others with no basis.  And an overall lack of positive excitement in the industry.  Throw in the fact that the good names have gotten expensive and you’re just not seeing a lot of new blood.  If it wasn’t for DNAcademy  I think you’d see even less.  Meanwhile many aged domain investors quietly buy and sell domains with no interest in participating in the social side of it.

That being said, I think there is more opportunity than there has been since the Chinese rush.  There is a huge lack of inventory in the auctions and the flip opportunity is great right now.  I work with several people that have had some good success flipping using Namejet.   If you are sitting on single word or solid two word dot coms right now you have gold.   You are seeing many of these come through the auctions this past year.  Names that were a higher quality that we normally see.  Various reasons.  Some just ready to cash out.  Some looking to get into crypto. Either way the sales price boosted the market.

The scarcity of names also caused some to not sell at auction at all. Because you could sell one retail and get what you would get for 7 names at auction.   But you don’t need to comment on the  blogs or forums to learn that.    Here are today’s names.    Click on them for current price

Yesterday was brutal.  As I mentioned I got a lung infection from running too hard in the cold and then it turned for the worse so I got a mild flu as well.  That was bad enough as it was. I needed 10 hours of sleep just to be able to go to work.  Michael Cyger said “Dude you’re going to bed?  Isn’t it 7:30 your time?”  My response was “Yep” .  But then we got the latest snowstorm we’ve had for over a decade.  Heavy wet snow.  My daughter was in the state championship for indoor track and I was taking every medicine I could to get to the event. But then the snow set in and the bus driver wouldn’t drive in the

snow so I had to take the girls to the event so she calls me at 6 am and lets me know I have to drive the team.  I had just gotten to bed after coordinating plow and salt teams.  The drive, normally an hour there and back took me 4 hours.  By the time I got back the guys were still plowing and needed relief so I had to take the 8 pm to midnight shift.  So I’m sick and have been up from 4 am to midnight.  Not exactly the ideal situation for getting better.  So long story short, I’m flying through this because I have to go plow in an hour.   Here we go.   Here are today’s names.    Click on them for current price

I’ve been running a family business for 25 years.  At least once a week something happens that is a mistake or a problem develops that needs to be rectified.  Sometimes its my vendor or sometimes its my company that screwed up.  What I’ve found over the years is that there is a way to handle it that gets the best results.  I’ve also found that if I handle it correctly that I ALWAYS get taken care of.  I can honestly say that each and every one of my problems has eventually been rectified.

Domain companies are no different.  Godaddy, Namejet, Sedo, Dropcatch.  Every one fixes my problems.  Why?  Because I talk it out with the company.  I let them know exactly what happened and make sure it moves up the ladder until it gets fixed.  It doesn’t get fixed because I am special.  It gets fixed because it is a small industry and its not hard to know who to talk to.  I also treat everyone with respect along the way.  Ok, maybe I get passive aggessive some times but I try.  In the nursery industry I am nobody special.  But I know when I am due rectification and being fair.  I don’t push it past that.

For instance we bought a Kubota articulating loader.  Its not cheap.  Close to $100K.   Kubota has been in the tractor market for a while but they are new to skid steers and loaders.  We bought a loader and skid steer last year from a dealer by one of locations but the loader is now at one of our other locations.  There is a Kubota dealer next door to our nursery but its not where we bought it yet they do the service.  When the differential problem came up they said the parts would not be in until JUNE.  June because its such a new piece of equipment Kubota didn’t have the part readily available.   Obviously that’s not going to work.  I asked the company down the road what Kubota could do.  Their answer? Nothing.

So I called my Dad who wanted to buy it from the dealer close to his location and asked him to give that person a chance to make it right.  Mentioning we were first adopters and spent $150K and that no business can have their equipment down for 3 months.  Within 30 minutes they told us they would give us a brand new tractor and pick up the broken one from the dealer that did nothing.  And they did.  It just happened to snow unexpectedly and we could not have done our job if they hadn’t brought that tractor.  I called the company to say how much I appreciated what they did.  They couldn’t have handled it much better.  I would have given them apple bread like I did the fire department but they were too far away.

As a business owner I also know people can be asses.  Not only do they have a problem but they are going to berate you and belittle you while they explain it.  It doesn’t mean that they don’t deserve to have the problem rectified, but you lose your desire to help. You can also tell that this is who they are.  That they have a problem with everything.  Problems follow them everywhere they go.  You do the bare minimum to help and often weigh the value of even having them as a customer any more.  Often the only reason you keep them is because you know they will be ruthless in talking bad about your company.  Reviews, blog post, etc.

It’s tough reading an article where the entire article is complaining about a company.  Usually because you know that in normal circumstances that wouldn’t even be a problem. It would have been solved.  And its too bad because nobody wins in those cases.  They both look bad.  If a writer has more than a few complaint articles then it looks like they are the problem. And in general the company looks bad because they didn’t handle a complain satisfactorily according to their user.  The writer could have just ceased doing business but they want to make sure everyone knows.  The power of the keyboard.  I won’t pretend, having a blog or being on Sherpa has probably gotten me better service than I deserve but I never use that as leverage. Only as identification or as a trust identifier.  I feel comfortable that I could achieve the same results being anonymous.  It just might take me a little longer.  Here are today’s names.    Click on them for current price

Quote of the Day:  “Any fool can criticize, condemn and complain – and most fools do”  Benjamin Franklin

Domain of the Day:  Graphicly.com This was the name of a successful silicon valley startup now sold. They paid 15K for the name then. it has 23K+ backlinks and daily traffic.

Namejet and Sedo Names at Auction

SpaHoliday.com  Millions of women (and men) treat themselves to this.  Hundreds if not thousands of dollars getaway.  55 bids

GearMotors.com  So many uses.  Mechanic, custom builder, car sales.  33 bids

SaintTropez.net   A wonderful vacation spot.  Strong enough geo that the .net has good value. 3 bids

REBV.com     Real estate, real estate broker, real estate brokerage, real estate board. 29 bids

POA.net multiple solid uses for this 3L .net – one of those is Proof of Authority which is an Ethereum sidechain.   Reserve has already been met.

SKAV.com   I think most people will consider this a pronounceable so it will go for more than $1K

SmartRoads.com  I think this is definitely going to be a thing.  Gathering data, producing energy, helping cars drive.  Just not sure any of those manufactures will want the generic

TIXU.com  Another one of those advertising names.  What I mean by that is based on the reserve, I don’t think the seller had any intention of selling it at auction.  They merely are using the auction to let everyone know its for sale and will eventually sell it privately.  Happening more now as auction houses have a huge need for inventory that they will now allow names with super high reserves. And sometimes they actually sell so its worth it to let them on

SafetyPlace.com  Had it on the list before.  Still like it for sales of safety related products

BrightMark.com   Pending delete and a great brand. I like Bright names more than the average person though

JetBet.com  Another nice pending delete. Have to put a bid in here just in case DropCatch doesn’t get it

FerrthandJobs.com   Famous domain because it looked like FerretHandJobs.  Never knew if it was for real but regardless its now for sale

Godaddy Domains That I Like With Multiple Bids

BudMapper.com    Find your canna where ever you are.  Colorado and California’s map looks like a colorblind test

Newsies.com   News brand.  Used to be what they would call the little kids selling papers on the corner. 1998 domain

OnlySport.com   At $500 at press time.  Not sure I love it but I like all the bidders

NoSignal.com  Godaddy values it at $7500.    I’m thinking this is a media play.  Maybe no signal meaning cutting the cord.   Getting some good bids so somebody has a plan

Ducats.com   A gold or silver coin used in Europe in the 1800s.  Now collected

DinoShop.com  Kids LOVE dinosaurs

Herbalized.com   Could be herbs and natural medicine but my guess is its going to be cannabis

LLLN.com    The triple Ls has the Chinese bidding this one up.   Used to go for $4K plus

LBMO.com    I generally stay away from LLLL that end in O because they tend to stand for Organization which means they could or even should get the .org.  But I like this one for some reason.   Maybe its the first three solid letters

BebekOdasi.com  Means “Baby Room” in Turkish and its already at 4 figures

LZTF.com   I think this may be a CHiP that doesn’t reach four figures.

ParkVegas.com   Parking is moving to all private.   And now they have to compete with Marketing

BitCoinWeb.com   The top numbers of bids on the GD list today

Cryptori.com  If I’m a crypto company I am more likely to name it something like this rather than a generic

ZipRecruitr.com  and   ZipRecruter.com   Not sure if anyone does typos still but these get thousands of typeins

EVAQ.com    I think evacuate or eVacuum or evidently anything that doesn’t normally have a Q

Godaddy Names With One or No Bids

RehabConstruction.com  More construction guys make money in rehab and additions than people working in the new construction business.

RadioToys.com Remote control used to be called Radio controlled. Might still work as a brand

GrowStation.com  A big one is getting missed here.  Best value on the board IMO with no bidders

Fusuki.com  Not being used for anything so this Japanese sounding brand is all yours.  No bids

Alternalife.com  Live the life you always wanted to live.  The Alternalife. No bids

PartyPills.net Sound fun. But I’m a little too old for pills or dot nets.  One bidder

Leety.com  Nice 5L.com with no bids

CoffeeBoss.com  Boss is a pretty popular naming convention and coffee….we all know coffee is lifeblood

YarnGarage.com  Nothing says tough like yarn.  And it has a bid

Insurgo.com  Upgrade name for a few entitites

SeeMyWedding.com  Live broadcast of your wedding for those that can’t make it

Yesterday I discovered the coolest product in modern health science. It’s called Teladoc, an app and website that lets you video call a Dr where ever you are in minutes.

I’ve had this sinus infection that just won’t go away. I keep thinking it’ll be over soon but the mucous continues to be yellow and thick. I don’t like taking antibiotics if I don’t have to, I always think I’ll create some super bug by over medicating.

So today, thanks to a co-worker that reminded me we had this service available, I signed up for Teladoc through their app.

After setting up the account, I had to  impute some medical details,  insurance information and preferred pharmacy. I then requested a “visit” and 5 minutes later I was on the phone with a PA licensed Physician.

The call lasted 30 seconds, I told him my symptoms, he said “ok I’ll call in an RX, hope you feel better” and that was it. 15 minutes later I got the text message that my prescription was filled.

I paid the standard co-pay with paypal and didn’t have to drive anywhere or wait  45 minutes in a sick filled waiting room.  So while some ailments require an actual visit, most like this don’t and boom I’ve got what I need in a few minutes.

Keep the hand registered name evaluations coming, we’ll even add auction purchased names if you want.

Something I really work on is my gut health.  It sounds a little weird but I think the entire body and mind is driven by the gut.  It’s been proven you can achieve more physically and mentally with a healthy gut.  One of the guys I read and listen to is Chris Kresser .  He has some great info about the effects of gut health.  I work hard trying to reduce sugar and processed foods in my stomach and take probiotics to try and build up the good stuff in my gut.

And then I get sick and all that goes to shit.  I push and push and don’t rest and regardless of my body’s health I can’t stop the rampage of the flu.  I didn’t get a flu shot that was a mistake.  I kept running despite my not feeling normal.  And then to cap it off on the day I feel the worst I get called in to plow snow all night.  I never had a chance.  I got a Z pack to reduce the chest infection which they felt was not the flu but I also got the flu.   A double whammy.  The worst part is the antibiotics in the Z pack destroyed the gut health that I have been building all winter.  It goes in and non selectively kills everything in its path.  Great if you are fighting infection but it leaves you with a weakened immunity once you are all better.  I’ll take the non infection easily so I don’t die but I am kicking myself for getting so run down.

I also missed two days of work.  The first two days I’ve missed since 1991.  Yes I’ve been sick before.  It just always to be while traveling. Or timed out so I didn’t miss full days. I always try and go in and see how things play out.  That usually makes me feel better.  Just getting up and moving.  But traveling always gets my immune system.  An airplane stuffed full of germs and being out of my routine usually sets me up for not feeling my best.  But its usually just a small thing.  If you take out the Domain Conferences and I haven’t been sick ever in the last 15 years except for food related illness while traveling in 3rd world countries.  (note to self, don’t eat everything offered)

The only positive in this whole ordeal is my appetite. It never went away.  Laying in agony I was still hungry.   And my stomach was fine too.  Never very nauseous.  Because I was always eating my wife definitely questioned my true sickness.  She pretty much ignored me the whole time.  Zero empathy in my family when someone goes down.  I got the hint when she wrote “pussy” on my forehead while I was sleeping that she didn’t think I was really sick.  To get her back I wear a mask everywhere we go like the Asians traveling . And I’ll keep wearing it until the Sharpie wears off my forehead.  Here are today’s names.    Click on them for current price

Quote of the Day:  “Rest when you’re weary. Refresh and renew yourself, your body, your mind, your spirit. Then get back to work”  -Ralph Marston

Domain of the Day:  PocketWager.com  I think its one of the best names on the board today but only has one bidder

Namejet and Sedo Names at Auction

Sushi.com  Closes today.  Already at $600K.  I would buy it but the way my checking and savings work I would have to transfer my savings to my checking…anyway. It would take some work

ORLB.com   I always feel justified when a name I like has Taryn as a top bidder

LXMC.com  The C and the consonants put his about $1200 using my vast historical knowledge

0-2.com    1999 domain. Letter “o” dash 2. Oxygen. Three character. Many, many
companies worldwide with o-2 or o2 in name

Respecting.com   Odd form of the word but I think people like the positivity of it.  Getting close to reserve.  At least on the left side range of the reserve

ElectricPink.com   Officially a color but also a great brand

KXOC.com    Anytime you can get an LLLL.com that ends in C under $150 I say take it.  My opinion only

Communism.com   $2K bid and met reserve.  Pretty big political name for the price IMO

DomainGuy.com  Instantly have a new moniker with one purchase

Diana.io  If you like first name .io

JetBet.com  Solid gambling name.  Jet and bright are great naming conventions

BrightMark.com  Like I said, jet and bright are good naming conventions

Godaddy Domains That I Like With Multiple Bids

StudentFunder.com   This has the most bids.  A lot of money in student loans

MaxPotential.com   What everyone is trying to reach.  Or most people are. 1997 birthday

BuddyGuys.com  Been there many times in Chicago.  A few times I’ve been drunk and walked around the painting on the floor thinking it was a pool.   Surprised they missed this one

WildPlants.com   Good name to sell natives or non GMO plants.  I think it would work on its own as a brand

Quire.com   Used to be an old manuscript of 25 pieces of paper, now a cool tech name.  Already past 4 figures

PSHM.com   Great letters.  Should cross $1K based on past sales these last few months

CNIE.org   This is WAY above where I thought it would go. Does have 12,000 backlinks and a 1996 domain

IHJM.com   I like the LLLL.coms with I in the front for International or Illinois

35329.com  20016 name.  Just crossed $1K

Litterbugs.com   Definitely going to go to some product or service that cleans

InGod.com    I thought his was a name but with quotations and without everything comes up “In God We Trust”   looks like religion it is

GGIK.com   The double G part is nice.  K is a little tougher.  Except in Germany and there are plenty of words

Venturepreneurs.com   like the name just not sure anyone can spell it

SharedIQ.com    Not a bad name for a collaboration or crowdsource project.  Has a few bids

Vitar.com    Most Google results come up for actor but all the bids suggest it has much better uses

Godaddy Names With One or No Bids

Kemzo.com  I think all 5L.com that are good pronounceables are worth $30.  This is at $12

WebClassrooms.com  Might be worth a flyer for $12 for an online education name

SoulPuppet.com Sounds like a 90s alternative rock band.  Or an IPA

LightAndWater.org No Bids. Might be an upgrade name for a company that provides exactly this

PussyWizard.com  Should probably just go with Cat Whisperer

AboveThePeak.com  Upgrade name for a couple entities

Powderr.com  Not sure if these names still sell on Brandbucket

Escrow.com

Did you know that Travis is a master at picking out the perfect credit card?  Did you know that Josh is a hell of a fisherman and used some domain money to buy a real fishing boat (I think he shared this).  Do we know anything about Aaron?  What I love about having partners in business is the vast diversity of hobbies and talents that a group brings. The conversations are great and I’m always amazed by the crazy things that our partners know.  Travis’ credit card prowess has saved me thousand and thousands of dollars the past year.

We went over my spending habits and my needs in a card and we picked out two kinds.  One a travel card and one that specializes in good points for online purchases. The other a card that gets more coins with online purchases.  I went with the travel. Pretty sure I mentioned it in a previous post. The Chase Saphire Reserve.  It’s $400 but you instantly get $300 taken off you first travel purchase of the year so now you’re down to $100.  And you get 100,000 points with signup which is $1500 in travel.  Which would pay for 15 years of annual fee if you count only the $100 balance.  Add in that you get free entry to all the high end lounges in the airport and its a winner.  There are tons of other bonuses in the area of insurance and travel. Too many to list.  I finally used my points from last year and was able to fly my family and I for 8 days in Holland on business class and hotel all for free using points.  When you spend the points wisely they can go a lot further.  I think I heard Travis say he could get 5 times his money on Hotels using his points.  Again, he’s a specialist.  Special enough that he essentially got me a free vacation for my entire family to Europe.  And this was just my domain credit card.  Not my nursery business card which my Dad still controls and is making the plain old 1%. Time to take a look at that and have Travis figure out the best way to maximize it.

The ironic part of all of this is I still get crushed in credit card fees at the nursery so by no means am I winning the credit card game. I can’t change the rates and all us businesses are going to pay the same rates regardless, so I might as well play.  And with Travis guiding me I am playing better than I’ve ever played.

On a completely unrelated note. While sick I watched an entire season of Ozark on Netflix.  A must watch.  One of the better series on TV.  Here are today’s names.    Click on them for current price

Quote of the Day: I don’t like country music, but I don’t mean to denigrate those who do. And for the people who like country music, denigrate means ‘put down’.”   -Bob Newhart

Domain of the Day:  Graphicly.com 24 bids.  Sold for $15K four years ago so somebody is getting a bargain compared to the original buyer

Namejet and Sedo Names at Auction

Loosie.com  At $100 at press time.  Domain ends today

SpaHoliday.com   With the weather being so shitty in Illinois that sounds like a perfect Easter Weekend

WMOT.com  Would be a steal IMO at the $111 that the current price is. And don’t think it won’t.  I have picked up a few that end in A for under $200 lately

Kuduo.com   Its a vessel and a great brand as you can tell by the bids

Chess.ws    I think chess players don’t care about the tld.  This one comes with a paid up renewal until 2099

ISGC.com    For those that like the LLLL that end in C.  That might just be me and Rosener

AdvancedRealtors.com   Advanced is a popular naming convention.  If you google it you get a huge amount of business results

Bitched.com    I know a few guys that should own this name.  Its all they do

461.net    Only 1000 of these bad boys

GunReform.com  Can’t find a hotter topic right now.  Seller is smart to put this one up right now

Godaddy Domains That I Like With Multiple Bids

Seeders.com   Top price on the board and you can see why.  So many uses.  Seed round comes to mind first

SOTL.com  L for league.  Or limited.  Or anything that starts with L

HRMS.com   You don’t see a LLLL.com going for almost $3K at auction very often

CentralTech.com  Upgrade name for hundreds of companies.  And its 21 years old

Bloog.com   Godaddy values this at $7K

CashSupply.com   Something we could all use.  Cash is king

AboutSex.com    1997 birthday.  I guess you could learn about it from somewhere else than porn

WebInternational.com   A bit cheesy but we’ve all sold cheesy

BatonRouge.net   Famous city in New Orleans.  Pronounced Bat On Rouge

SparkGrow.com    Definitely going to a canna grower

Crypto Domains

So many today I had to separate the all out.  All have bids. Some quite a few

CryptoCap.com

BlockCap.com

CoinFork.com

CryptoCentury.com

CryptoFluency.com

CryptoForms.com

CryptoNightly.com

OasisBitCoin.com

PropertyBlocks.com

Godaddy Names With One or No Bids

SupercarForSale.com   At the price of super cars, you only need to sell one to pay for this name.  A the younger gen buys supercars now, not classics

Chaining.org    The dot com would be 5 figures so this has some value IMO

WeedLotion.com  Its the future.  I think we’ll see canna oil as a medical treatment regularly available.

iCanDrawYou.com  Can you draw me like one of your French girls Jack ?    Reminds me of Reddit’s ADrawingAppeared

Wizergy.com It’s a push but I see this as an new tech energy name.  It’s $12 so I can stretch a little more

Shitting.org  Shitty name

KarPool.com  Buy this then upgrade to Carpool.  The K is going to save you a few hundred grand

ShanesHouse.com  Who’s house?  Shane’s house

ComplainForYou.com  Love this business model.  Let someone else put in your complaint

MagicDonkey.com  At least you’ll remember the name

HardSlice.com  Golf term with no bids.  More of a blog type name so reduced value.

NameSonar.com   “Let us help you find your name”  No bids
